Randy Brodnax - Throwing and or Raku Workshop
Join us April 11-12 for a weekend workshop with Southern Pottery Legend, Randy Brodnax, at the Barry Brown Clay Studio & Gallery, 1010 Ayers St. Corpus Christi, TX.
Randy, a Louisiana native and one of the best-known potters in Texas, is celebrated for his innovative throwing, decorating and firing techniques. His imaginative use of natural imagery and fantasy is one-of-a-kind. He is an inventive and intuitive teacher who offers something for all skill levels, so don’t be intimidated if you’re a beginner. There is something for everyone.
Participants can sign up for one or both days of this weekend workshop.
Saturday, April 11, Randy will lead a hands-on wheel throwing class with an emphasis on surface decoration from 10 am to 4pm-ish.
Cost — $175, which includes all necessary supplies, including 25 lbs. of clay.
Class is limited to 10 participants.
Sunday, April 12, Randy will demonstrate various Raku firing techniques using commercial glazes and other surface decorations. Please bring 2 bisque fired pieces, one smooth and one textured, no taller than 10 inches and no wider than 5 inches. No tiles, plates, platters or bowls. (sunscreen & water are recommended)
Cost — $175.
Class is limited to 15 participants.
Sunday’s class is from 9 am until 3 pm-ish. Please come early to assist with set-up for Raku.
intro to wheel, 4-Weeks - april Monday evenings
This class is designed to introduce you to the fundamental techniques of creating pottery on a potter's wheel. Whether you're a complete beginner or have dabbled in clay before, this workshop will provide you with the knowledge and experience to start your own journey in ceramic art.
Session 1: Cylinder Forms: The building block of mugs, vases, and more.
Session 2: Trimming and Bowls: Trim your cylinders and throw bowls.
Session 3: Trim Bowls and Throw Small Plates.
Session 4: Glazing Techniques: Add color and finish to make the pottery uniquely yours.

Hand-Building & Glazing Workshop- May
Join our ceramic hand-building class to create three unique pieces: a pinch pot, a coil pot, and a slab pot. One the first night, you’ll learn techniques to craft each project, and on the second, you’ll glaze your master pieces for a beautiful finish. No previous experience necessary—just bring your creativity.
