Established in 2001 and named in honor of celebrated local artist Barry Brown, the studio has been a vital part of Corpus Christi's artistic community for over two decades. After years of nurturing ceramic artists as part of The Art Center, this move to an independent facility represents an exciting evolution in the organization's mission to make ceramic arts accessible to all.

“Our relocation has given us the opportunity to continue the legacy of the Barry Brown Clay Studio," says Kelley Mailhes, 2025 President of the Board of the Barry Brown Clay Studio.  “We plan to move forward with purpose and to be a positive influence in the community through outreach, education, and providing a great place for all in the Coastal Bend to come and create."

The Barry Brown Clay Studio is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization continuing the artistic legacy of Barry Brown through its dedication to ceramic arts education and community enrichment. Founded at The Art Center and now in its own dedicated facility, the studio serves as a creative hub for people of all ages, abilities, and backgrounds in the Coastal Bend region.
